Lizzo just revealed the inspiration behind her blonde hair transformation.

On Thursday, May 22, the Grammy winner shared a series of images and videos to her Instagram of her icy blonde hue— a major change from her usual darker locks.

One of the photos in Lizzo’s carousel post was an April 6 screenshot of Beyoncé rocking her icy platinum blonde Cowboy Carter hair. The picture of the “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer hailed from a promotional Instagram post from her respective hair care brand, CÉCRED.

Lizzo has credited Beyoncé as an inspiration for her singing career and recently revealed that she was touched when the superstar name dropped her in the 2022 track, “Break My Soul.”

“I thought somebody was messing with me,” the singer recalled. “And then, I was like, ‘OK, it’s in a song, maybe it’s quick’…And then when I found out what it actually was, it was her paying homage to all of the women who inspire her, that really moved me,” she said on the May 15 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.

“I’m very, very honored to this day. I love her very, very much. And, yeah, I’m still gooped and gagged,” she added.

The “Truth Hurts” most recently showed off the hair change while performing on stage with SZA at the first Los Angeles concert of SZA’s Grand National Tour — which also features Kendrick Lamar — on May 22. For the event, the pop star wore a chocolate brown lace bodysuit that allowed the bold hair color to pop against her clothes and the stage lights.Following the show, Lizzo, 37, posted the new series of images of her in the brown outfit and gave her fans a closer look at her new hair. “Just a girl & her blonde era,” she captioned the photo set.

To complement the gold tones in her hair, the pop star wore a large gold cross necklace and matched the metallic shade back to her her almond shaped nails, which featured a gold French tip design. The singer also accessorized with an array of gold rings, some with dark stones to add a bold statement to her look.

The “Juice” singer first debuted her new blonde locks at the 2025 Met Gala — the theme for the evening was “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” and dress code was “Tailored for You,” encouraging self-expression on the red carpet. Lizzo attended the event in a custom Christian Siriano black and white corset gown with sharp suiting details, and wore the blonde wig in old Hollywood-inspired curls to complete the look.

Lizzo weight loss journey was also no full display at the Met Gala. She has been open on social media recently by sharing about her “weight release journey” and what it has meant to her to prioritize her mental health as well as her body in a way that will have the right impact on her fans.

“My body has been changing very slowly, but I don’t think people were paying attention,” the singer said during an April 2025 interview on Jay Shetty’s podcast On Purpose with Jay Shetty. “I would show different things like … my workouts or I’d show, like, what I eat in a day … But I think we got to remember, everybody not seeing your s— all the time.”

Lizzo continued, “Everybody’s not privy to what you’re going through. They’re not with you every day. So when I pop out on a red carpet or when a video suddenly goes viral and my body is different, it appears like it was overnight. It appears sudden.”
