The girlfriend explained on the community forum Mumsnet that she asked her partner of two years a question and was not pleased with his response.

“He went out with friends and messaged yesterday morning to say he had been out until 5 a.m.,” she wrote, before sharing their text exchange.

She continued, “I jokingly asked if he had pulled [another woman] and his response was: ‘No but I almost did, got dancing with a very attractive lady. I think she would have kissed me had I let her but I thought better of it as my mates were there. Didn’t even get her number.’ ”

No longer amused, the girlfriend then asked if the only reason he didn’t make out with her was because his friends were watching.

“He said, ‘OK no it wasn’t,’ but by that point I was quite angry,” she recalled. “I said that had he kissed her and swapped numbers that would have showed the intention to form a connection.

She added, “His only response was, ‘But I didn’t do it, did I?’ ”

“I don’t understand if he just worded the message badly but he seems angry at me for being upset about it,” she continued, before asking, “Am I being unreasonable? It’s made me feel quite hurt and disrespected.”

Fellow Mumsnet users quickly chimed in with their honest opinions.

“He has no respect for you and is behaving like he’s single, because in his head he is,” one reader replied. “Leave and find yourself someone emotionally mature enough to know that none of this is ok.”

Another person bluntly responded, “Tell him to f— right off.”
