Inside Prince William and Kate Middleton's Family-Filled Summer With Their Kids
Heavy is the head that could one day wear the crown.
So knowing that his 13-year-old will very likely ascend to the throne at some point, Prince William is doing all he can to ensure eldest Prince George feels supported.
"There’s lots of things to think about with that," William acknowledged on an October 2025 episode of The Reluctant Traveler With Eugene Levy. For starters, "I want to create a world in which my son is proud of what we do and a world and a job that actually does impact people’s lives for the better."
However, with he and Prince Harry having carried out their childhood under the most intense microscope, "I hope we don’t go back to some of the practices in the past that Harry and I had to grow up in," William added. "And I’ll do everything I can to make sure we don’t regress in that situation."
While George will be carrying down the same path as Dad in some regards—kicking off his schooling at the prestigious Eton College just like William and Uncle Harry—his parents are doing their best to ensure some aspects of his life are royally normal.
For instance, the teen doesn't yet have his own cell phone, a decision that's "getting to the point where it’s becoming a little bit of a tense issue," William admitted to Brazilian TV host Luciano Huck in November.
Nor, does he get to make any sort of decree about the music that plays when Kate Middleton shepherds him and younger siblings Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis off to school.
"Everyone wants different songs," the duchess revealed in an Instagram video from her June visit to The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. "Charlotte wants Taylor Swift. George wants more rock. He loves AC/DC. He plays the guitar. And then Louis wants Alex Warren." (Their youngest is also quite the accomplished drummer, according to William.)
Though George was more than happy to declare he belonged with his dad and sister when they met Swift backstage at one of the London dates of her Eras Tour in June 2024.
And that's the life of a royal, babe, just one highlight from George, Charlotte and Louis' gilded existence. We're filling in more blank spaces with the pics below.
