It was a golden night at the 2026 Emmys.
All of your favorite television actors and creators were in attendance for the annual ceremony honoring the best in small screen entertainment. (See every star arrive on the red carpet here.)
Held at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles on Monday, Sept. 14, and hosted by Law & Order: Special Victims Unit's Mariska Hargitay, this year's show boasted a list of nominees stacked with stars who delivered unforgettable performances ranging from dark and dramatic to gut-busting comedy and beyond.
One of the night's early winners, Jean Smart won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy—and made history in the process.
The Hacks star became the first female performer ever to win an Emmy for every season of their series.
After thanking her children, whom she called "my anchor," Smart shouted out Hacks creators Lucia Aniello, Jen Statsky and Paul W. Downs for the role of a lifetime.
"This one I’m dedicating to Lucia, Jen and Paul W. Downs," she said. "It all begins and ends with them. I love you guys so much. What a ride this has been!"
Meanwhile, one of the year's most talked-about new show, Widow's Bay, was up for all of the top awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
So, did star Matthew Rhys take home the Lead Actor trophy, or how about the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, which he was also nominated for for The Beast in Me. (Rhys would make Emmys history if he won both.)

Shailene Woodley took home her very first Emmy for Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her role in season two of Paradise, while the late Rob Reiner won a posthumous Emmy for his role in The Bear nine months after his tragic death.
Like Woodley, DTF St. Louis costars David Harbour and Linda Cardellini also nabbed their first trophies for Outstanding Supporting Actor and Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, respectively.
For Harbour, the achievement serves as validation for a lifetime of unforgettable roles.
"It's kind of an out-of-body experience to be honest," the Stranger Things actor exclusively told E! News backstage Sept. 6. "There's just so much build-up."
