Grace Ling was back with her annual show, and feeling more confident than ever. “I think this is the best season to date. I’m just really proud of where the brand is at right now,” she said. “I know deep down that the quality is much better, and the construction is much better.” She’s had more practice dressing ultra A-list celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Lisa, which also helps.

While Ling’s brand is most popular for its sculptural “couture” dresses worn by celebs on the red carpet, the more overlooked part is the tailoring: this is where her craftsmanship shines, despite it not being created for the Instagram or red carpet moment. Up close, you can tell the fabric choices are a significant part of Ling’s focus. One of the highlights from this section included a cinched tailored vest paired with an ultra wide-legged pant that had an effortlessly cool look.

Ling was correct about her construction quality having risen. A leather jacket still had that gothy, vampy aesthetic she likes to channel, but it could easily be worn by anyone neither goth nor vampy, and just in the market for a great jacket.
