Katie Holmes Has Found Her New It-Bag for Fall
Spot Katie Holmes, spot the latest it-bag.
Holmes has a collection of capacious purses and new handbags on the block at her disposal, affordable chic totes to go with laidback looks and covetable luxury accessories for more glamorous appearances. Some you’ll find in her recent rotation include a classic quilted Chanel 19 Flap Bag, the sleek Perriand top-handle city bag by Métier London, the trapezoid Akris Ai shoulder bag, an iconic Celine Triomphe, and several shapes and sizes from her go-tos Manu Atelier (it-girl staple, Le Cambon, is a fave) and Khaite.
Photographed out and about in New York, it looks like Katie Holmes has found her next bag to see her through fall 2025. The Happy Hours actor, director, and writer stepped out toting a souped up version of a classic: the Max Mara Whitney Bag 7 in a chocolate brown shade. The bag, from the brand that Holmes favors both for tailored outerwear and accessories, is a refreshed version of a 2015 collaboration with Renzo Piano Building Workshop, first made to celebrate the opening of the Whitney Museum in New York. It’s inspired by its façade and proportions, with detailed panelling, suede lining, and a handy shoulder strap for life on the go on the NYC streets. So far, so Holmes.

Holmes styled the rest of her look casually: wearing a baggy gray jumper with eyelet detailing and the sleeves turned up, light-wash blue denim barrel jeans, black ballerina flats, and large burgundy sunglasses. Like many a celebrity—Kendall Jenner included—Holmes isn’t ready to say goodbye to the casual ballet just yet either, seeing the summery shoe into her fall rotation too. This look just encapsulates her continued effortlessly cool, downtown style.
More recently, Holmes was spotted joining the hosts bringing back the original Chloé Paddington bag, plucked from the Chloé archives as the boho arrival shows no signs of stopping. The Whitney bag is a sensible, chic statement for fall, in the continually on-trend chocolate brown shade, with considered details. And if Max Mara isn’t your bag, the Drive purse by Phoebe Philo does similar business.
What’s in Katie Holmes latest luxe bag? Hopefully, a new script for her next project.
