Eriro

WHERE: Ehrwald, Austria
WHEN: Opened August 2024
WHY: Slow down and savor nature at this quiet, all-inclusive Alpine retreat only accessible by cable car.
Situated at an elevation of over 5000 feet, Eriro was designed to foster harmony with the surrounding forest and mountain range. Nearly all design elements at Eriro were crafted by hand using locally sourced materials, including hand-carved wooden bathtubs and hand-knotted sheep’s wool carpets. The nine-bedroom hotel offers traditional Alpine experiences such as barefoot hikes, yodeling lessons, craft workshops, mountain biking, and other activities. Rooms start at approximately $1778 per night, which includes daily breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks; all lessons and workshops; use of saunas, pools, mountain bikes, show shoes, and hiking poles; and more perks.
Hotel Drei Berge

WHY: The founder of Bode designed two of the rooms in this eclectic Swiss enclave.
Who knew you could find a slice of the fashion industry in a tiny Swiss village? Well, thanks to Bode, you can. The brand’s CFDA Award–winning founder, Emily, and her interior designer husband, Aaron, decorated two of the guest rooms at the charming Hotel Drei Berge in the car-free town of Mürren. Originally built in 1907 and formerly known as Hotel Bellevue, the chalet was acquired and reimagined by Ramdane Touhami, who is best known for turning Officine Universelle Buly into a cult-favorite destination for perfumes and lip balms. From zigzag carpets to vintage flags, the retro décor is funky in the best way possible. As of June 2025, it’s temporarily closed for renovations, so follow the hotel on Instagram for updates.
Experimental Chalet Val d’Isère

WHY: Christian Louboutin is one of the investors behind the Experimental Group’s chic boutique hotels.
It’s never too early to start thinking about your next ski trip. Experimental Chalet Val d’Isère will reopen for the winter season in early December 2025, providing access to over 180 miles of slopes. One Vogue writer reports that the fashion crowd has only recently started to catch on to Val d’Isère, preferring the low-key winter getaway over flashier ski spots like Courchevel. This hotel’s cozy, ski-inspired design is thoroughly charming, while the fondue is not to be missed. See you on the slopes!
Raffles Jaipur

WHEN: Opened July 2024
WHY: This palatial property is an architectural and design marvel.
It’s not hard to see why the newly opened Raffles Jaipur quickly nabbed a spot on Time‘s World’s Greatest Places of 2025 list. It’s brimming with vibrant colors, opulent murals, hand-carved marble inlays, and traditional Indian décor elements such as jaali (intricate, latticed screens) and thikri (mosaic artwork made with glass or semi-precious stones). Located about 30 minutes outside the center of Jaipur, this hotel joins other iconic Raffles properties in Singapore, Jakarta, Istanbul, Manila, and more. A stay here just might be the closest you’ll ever come to living like a royal.
Orient Express La Minerva

WHERE: Rome, Italy
WHEN: Opened April 2025
WHY: It’s the first-ever hotel opening from the world’s most famous luxury train, the Orient Express.
Located in a beautifully restored 17th-century palazzo near the Pantheon, Orient Express La Minerva is an homage to the golden age of travel. I’m particularly obsessed with the hotel’s train-inspired design details, including bedside trunks in each room and wood paneling inspired by 1800s carriages. Even the sheets have a historic tie-in: They’re made by Rivolta Carmignani, the same Italian brand that once outfitted Orient Express’s sleeper cars. Artist and architect Hugo Toro spared no expense in designing this elegant Eternal City hotel.
The Brecon

WHY: You’ll be tempted to move into this all-inclusive hotel that feels like home.
Earth tones abound at The Brecon, where rooms boast views of either the charming village of Adelboden or the stunning Lohner mountain range. The ’60s- and ’70s-inspired décor is tasteful, never overdone. When you’re not hiking, skiing, or mountain biking, rest your muscles in the sauna, steam room, or pool. Whether you want to do a digital detox or Instagram up a storm, rest assured you’ll feel at home at this posh Swiss hotel.
Cortijo Genesis

WHY: Come for the colorful décor; stay for the serene setting.
Set on over 20 acres of rolling hills in Spain’s Andalusia region, Cortijo Genesis has earned five-star reviews from all of its early guests. The family-run hotel offers Reiki, meditation, and equine therapy, so it’s perfect for wellness enthusiasts of all stripes. Or if you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, the area is also great for hiking, biking, and golf. Personally, I wouldn’t leave that pretty patio!
Collegio Alla Querce

WHY: It’s the newest opening from the renowned Auberge Resorts Collection.
Perched on a hillside with views of the Duomo, Collegio alla Querce is Florence’s most fashionable new luxury resort. It’s part of the Auberge Resorts Collection, which also owns and operates Hotel Jerome in Aspen, Stanly Ranch in Napa Valley, and Mauna Lani in Hawaii, among other prestigious properties. I can’t decide what I love the most: the restored frescoes, the cypress-lined driveway, the antique sculptures, or the property’s history, which dates back to the Italian Renaissance.
Palazzo Talìa

WHY: Fans of director Luca Guadagnino will want to make a beeline for his first hotel venture.
He famously directed Timothée Chalamet in Call Me by Your Name and Zendaya in Challengers, but now Luca Guadagnino is taking his talents off-screen. He designed the new Palazzo Talìa, which occupies a 16th-century building that was a highly regarded school for over 300 years. Guadagnino and other Italian creatives restored the property to its former glory.
Hotel Wren

WHY: A 1940s roadside motel gets a fashionable facelift.
As a San Diego native, I’ve been making SoCal road trips my whole life. My newest obsession: Hotel Wren, located a few miles from Joshua Tree National Park and a one-hour drive from Palm Springs. The serene rooms, some of which are pet-friendly, feature kitchenettes stocked with Canyon Coffee and beds outfitted in Parachute Home linens.
Hôtel du Couvent

WHEN: Opened June 2024
WHY: It’s quickly become the South of France’s preeminent boutique hotel for celebrities.
Hôtel du Couvent awaits you after a 15-minute drive from the Nice Côte d’Azur Airport. Given its proximity to the Cannes Film Festival, the hotel has attracted scores of celebrities, including Alexa Chung and Barbara Palvin Sprouse. The latter even dedicated an entire Instagram carousel to her experience at the hotel with husband Dylan Sprouse.
Aman Nai Lert Bangkok

WHY: A new Aman opening will always attract worldwide attention.
Season three of The White Lotus wrapped over two months ago, but its influence has not waned in the slightest. If you’re itching to get to Thailand, you can’t go wrong with Aman Nai Lert Bangkok. Aman’s ultra-luxurious hotels have an extremely enthusiastic following worldwide, so I have no doubt that this new outpost will earn fans right away.
Hotel Humano

WHERE: Puerto Escondido, Mexico
WHEN: Opened December 2024
WHY: The latest offering from Grupo Habita combines cool architecture and chill vibes.
This cool new hotel first popped onto my radar thanks to Vogue México editor Karla Martinez, who recently shared photos of her visit on Instagram. Hotel Humano is located in Puerto Escondido, an Oaxacan beach town often overshadowed by the country’s more famous resort destinations such as Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, Cancún, and Tulum. However, it’s been growing in popularity recently, as my colleague reported in her Puerto Escondido travel guide published earlier this year.
Few & Far Luvhondo

WHY: Visit for a safari experience with soul.
Few & Far Luvhondo‘s mission is to protect and rewild the surrounding Soutpansberg mountains while also providing guests with a one-of-a-kind experience. The five-star retreat offers private game drives, conservation classes, day trips to the Mapungubwe National Park, guided hikes, mountain biking, and more. The resort’s pièce de résistance? The Solyrus, the still-to-come solar-powered cableway opening in October 2025. The ride will offer aerial views of wildlife at home in the savannas, forests, and rivers. Even seasoned safari lovers have likely never seen the bush from this vantage point!
The Manner

WHEN: Opened September 2024
WHY: It’s quickly become a favorite of the fashion industry.
Situated in SoHo, The Manner has already earned a reputation for attracting well-dressed travelers. When cult-favorite French brand Maje decided to throw a dinner party for celebrities, editors, and influencers, for instance, it set up shop on The Manner’s chic rooftop. Seafood restaurant The Otter and cocktail bar Sloane’s are two more reasons to visit, even if you’re not checking in for the night.
Palazzo Zimara

WHERE: Lecce, Italy
WHEN: Opened March 2025
WHY: This meticulously restored property is now a hotel for the first time in its 468-year history.
Located on the heel of Italy’s famous boot, Lecce is an underrated city filled with Baroque architecture. Although it’s been nicknamed the “Florence of the South,” Lecce has an identity all its own—it’s famous, for instance, for the art of papier-mâché. Now, the opening of Palazzo Zimara is all the more reason to visit. At various times in its history, the 16th-century property was home to doctors, philosophers, noble families, and even the mayor of Lecce. Now, it’s been turned into a handsome hotel for the first time.
The Twenty Two New York

WHEN: Opened February 2025
WHY: It’s a stone’s throw away from arguably the city’s best farmers market, Union Square Greenmarket.
Three years after opening its first outpost in London, The Twenty Two has now taken up residence in the Big Apple. Like its British counterpart, the New York location combines a hotel, a public restaurant, and a private members’ club. Can it give Soho House a run for its money? Only time will tell.
Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve

WHERE: Peninsula Papagayo, Costa Rica
WHEN: Opened February 2025
WHY: Live la pura vida with a posh twist.
Brimming with parrots, iguanas, howler monkeys, coatis, sea turtles, dolphins, and many other species, the Peninsula Papagayo is protected by Costa Rica’s strict wildlife preservation measures. Perched above one of the peninsula’s idyllic coves, Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, is the country’s chicest new opening. I, for one, was ecstatic to learn that you can earn and redeem Marriott Bonvoy points here.
The Newman

WHY: It’s set to be Fitzrovia’s most stylish stay.
Designed by the same team that outfitted Hotel Sanders in Copenhagen, The Newman is one of London’s most anticipated openings. “The hotel’s design pays homage to iconic figures like Nancy Cunard, the bohemian queen whose bold bangles and playful polka dots subtly weave through the space,” The Newman’s website explains.
