US: Wall Street opens higher on rate cut expectations


[NEW YORK] Wall Street’s main indexes opened higher on Tuesday (Sep 16) as investors priced in expected interest rate cuts from the Federal Reserve on Wednesday, while digesting stronger-than-expected August retail sales data.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 36.1 points, or 0.08 per cent, at the open to 45,919.54.

The S&P 500 rose 8.9 points, or 0.13 per cent, to 6,624.13​, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 48.7 points, or 0.22 per cent, to 22,397.498. REUTERS
